Pastor Joseph Darity speaking at A.F.M. International Ministries in the United Kingdom

Apostolic Faith Missions International Ministry

(AFMIM) Youth held their annual conference at the Arts Centre, Warwick University, UK from the 17th of July to the 19th of July. I believe there is no better way to spend a weekend-long camp than to be planted right in the heart of the leafy suburbs of Warwick. I caught up with them on the morning of Saturday the 18th of July.

Upon arrival, the first thing I asked one of the organizers, was for the names of the speakers and when he told me that Pastor Joseph Darity was the only speaker for the duration of the conference, I got so excited. Why the excitement one might ask? Well, the man is a powerful preacher who has a unique ability to draw the attention of the congregation.

He manages to do this by continuously pacing back and forth and his use of pithy questions and wise maxims. Plus, he has a tendency to break into dance in mid-sentence which proved to be highly popular with the gathered youths. The last time this American Pastor was in the UK, I had the opportunity to hear him preach, and everyone who was at that AFM revival in Leicester that I have since spoken to has nothing but high praises for the man.

The theme for the Conference was 'IGNITING A MORAL & SPIRITUAL REVOLUTION' - AMOS 5:4 (For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel: "Seek Me and Live").

Pastor Darity set off the Conference by declaring "I believe this is the generation that is going to see the manifestation of the second coming of the Lord". This declaration was received with loud cheers from the congregation. He read from Joshua 24:15 which says, "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house we will serve the LORD".

He then stated that if we are going to ignite a fire of Glory, there must be a change. "Walking with God is a choice, he will not make anyone serve Him" said the Pastor. Sometimes in life we need to make a conscious decision to follow Christ and sometimes serving Him means giving up oneself even to the point of giving up the pleasures of this life. God takes care of all those that walk upright in his presence. Joshua learned to observe how the man of God carried Himself. He had the heart of a follower and watched as God and Moses talked. He would hang around the bottom of the mountain while Moses was at the top of the mountain for forty days. "You will never know what tomorrow brings. Joshua chose to follow the legion of God to become a great leader". This is echoed when David says, "I thirst for the living God".

"Change means you can't go the way you came" he added. God has a plan for our lives; He knows what He has in store for our future. The choices one makes today determine the outcome of his/her future. We have got to recognize that we cannot defeat the enemy without the Lord on our side. On the other side, there is milk and honey!

Pastor Darity yelled, "if the Pastor and the people in the church don't act right, I am still going to serve the Lord. If my neighbor doesn't want to be my friend, I am going anyhow. If my family taunts me, I am not turning back". The Bible tells us that we are more than conquerors  and that no weapon fashioned against us will prosper. Choose today who you will serve and let Him reign in your life. Sometimes when we choose to serve the Lord folk don't like it but we are not in it to be liked. Remember, they even persecuted Jesus Christ, the Son of God. What about you? Sometimes choosing to walk with Jesus means you have to walk alone. It is not going to be easy. Jesus himself was caught out thrice. He states, "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak". Matthew 26:41.

Pastor Darity in concluding declared, "Jesus came to give us life" (John 6:51), trust Him and He will make it alright. We are in fire to know God. We have to understand the revelation before we get the revolution. God will close your past and open your future. He summed it all up Himself when He claimed, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me". John 14:6. No matter how many traps the devil sets God will deliver us. The devil can push us down but we have the Lord who will pick us up".
